Master's Research Project
Illuminating the Black Box of Procedures in the Fertility Lab
A patient education animation
Project Description
It is important for fertility patients to understand the process of in vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF encompasses four stages: ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, embryo transfer and embryo freezing. While there are sufficient resources available to explain all of these stages, there are very few resources outlining what happens in the fertility lab between egg retrieval and embryo transfer. Patients are not permitted to enter the lab, which makes it feel like a "black box". To address this knowledge gap, my research project was designed to increase patient knowledge on fertility lab procedures by creating an animation that accurately visualizes the laboratory processes between egg retrieval and embryo transfer.
